We have the evidence-based training and frameworks build thriving, flourishing campus cultures that last.
Scaling Care & Connection
We have the extensive evidence-based methodology to cultivate campuses that know how to show up.
Assess: Everything we do is data-driven. Using our proprietary, secure, encrypted data collection platform and validated care and connection metrics, we’ll take collect baseline comprehensive measurements and insights on your culture’s potential for growth.
Inform: We’ll inspire transformation and culture change through keynotes and webinars that unveil the insights from your metrics and illuminate the pathway to supportive care and cultures.
Equip: We maximize deeper relationships and connections by equipping students, faculty, staff, admin, and more with action plans and dynamic, actionable tools, processes, and skills to show up.
Cultivate: We’ll create a targeted action plan and certify university leaders and peer leaders to cultivate a regenerative, sustained culture of care in the long-term.
START HERE:
The Discovery Workshop
-
Everything we do is data-driven. As the first step in our process, we use our proprietary survey and validated care and connection metrics to uncover the potential for more connection at your university.
This baseline, discussion-based workshop reviews these metrics with you, where small-group discussions will dive deep into the trends and scenarios where students, faculty, staff, admin, etc may not feel seen, acknowledged, and validated — and build awareness for the case for supportive care in all areas on campus.
From there, we’ll use the insights gathered from both the survey, workshop, and over-arching goals of the university to generate a targeted action plan.
-
Supportive Culture Pre-Survey: Using our proprietary survey and validated care and connection metrics, we’ll anonymously collect data to get a temperature read on the climate of care and connectedness in their personal and professional lives.
Discovery Insights Presentation: This presentation will unveil how the our world has radically shifted and how the role of university leaders must shift with it. We will cover the science behind the importance of supportive care and connection while weaving in the data from your university’s pre-workshop survey.
Think Sprints, Group Discussion, & Strategy: Small group discussion of the trends and situations where others may not feel seen, acknowledged, and validated —and solutions to address these scenarios.
Supportive Culture Scorecard: A comprehensive Scorecard with your data and findings will be presented to leadership and consultive meeting to determine a targeted action plan and next steps.
-
Awareness of why developing skills to overcome our barriers are so important to building connections, trust, and resilience.
Awareness of the processes and tools that lead to increased well-being, better collaboration, and happier campuses.
Seeds will be planted for strengthened relationships and communities within and across departments, students, and the university as a whole.
A targeted action plan to build a strong foundation for flourishing students, faculty, staff, and admin at your university.
The Showing Up Workshop
-
This fundamental training module helps each participant understand what barrier behaviors they have in their personal “Awkward Zone™” — that place of knowing someone struggling, but not knowing what to say or do.
Some are eager to help support others but don’t know how to start; others don’t think it’s their business to get involved; others want to figure out how to prioritize supportive care, accountability, and productivity at the same time. Participants walk away from this workshop understanding what stops them from showing up and connecting more deeply, and with the skills to support those in and around them. -
Completion of Personal Awkward Zone™ Assessment Profile to ensure that participants develop skills to know, understand, and see the people around them on campus.
Aggregate of this data is provided once workshops are completed.
Small group discussion reviewing specific scenarios that put participants in the Awkward Zone™.
Discussions of what tips and tools are best to break through participants’ individual Awkward Zones™.
Completion of Personal Care Profile, a personalized report for each university leader (student peer leader or faculty/staff) that gets more granular, specific, and individual in terms of how each person they lead likes to be cared for and supported.
-
Identify the barriers that stop them from showing supportive care.
Be confident in what actions to take when navigating the Awkward Zone™.
Have a few “go-to” phrases to use when navigating the Awkward Zone™.
Identify individual strategies to incorporate the skill of supportive care into their daily life, both on and off campus.
Compiled information via the Personal Care Profiles on how to care for and support each of the people they lead in one place. Using the tools they’ve learned from their training, campus leaders can review these reports and use them as a “key” for how to support each of their people.
The Awkward Zone™ Workshop
-
This session, focused on awareness and culture-building, is a deep dive into the book Showing Up and the process and applications of human care and support behaviors. Working in collaboration with one another, participants will uncover the behaviors that get us off track and the science of how human care works.
This eye-opening session gets teams excited and brimming with ideas for showing up at a micro and macro level at their university, as well as inspiring and encouraging them to discuss and open up with stories of their own.
Participants will break into groups to discuss guided questions related to Showing Up, opening their eyes to the key building blocks for flourishing cultures of supportive care, and empowering and motivating them with the growth, support skills, and caring actions critical to drive connection-centered culture change. -
Small group peer discussion of personalized Guided Questions to identify critical supportive behaviors, strategies, and tools and how to apply them to scenarios they are currently facing.
Recap and Q&A on key points from the workshop and any other critical topics not covered.
-
Identify deeper behavioral changes to put into action to support those in their care.
Learn how to use the book Showing Up as a reference guide when needed.
Navigate difficult situations involving crisis, trauma, and loss.
Know what to do and where to look in the event that those around them require many forms of support.
Have the confidence to support others in distress.
The Supportive Leader Workshop
-
Today’s leaders need to be ready to support the whole person, which includes knowing how to holistically respond to all situations involving crisis, trauma, loss, mental illness, burnout, and a host of other circumstances that have students, faculty, and staff feeling alone. This hands-on workshop will work through processes, strategies, checklists, and audits to level up skills in being a confident campus leader.
Through this in-depth leadership workshop, participants can expect to acquire the awareness, skills, and strategy to support those they lead. A key part of being a leader in today's world is supporting others through hardship, but no one knows how to do it. This workshop provides the long-term tools and strategies to save time, taking a burden off their backs and ultimately providing stress reduction.

What People Are Saying
“I’m going to lie awake at night worrying about these students anyway, and feeling helpless in the face of that contributes more to burnout. In that way, being equipped is really a solution to burnout. It’s time to not wait for a crisis before we wake up. Showing Up is a big part of that.””
— Andra Smith-Hansen, Professor at BYU-Idaho
“The notion of planting seeds and building a common language — now we’ve got a campus-wide set of common perspectives. The fact that we were able to bring this skill-set to Peer Ministers, and to the Resident Assistants, puts into the residence halls a group of people with a common language and a common experience that can be there for students who are struggling.”
— Pr. James Wetzstein, Co-Director of the Valparaiso Peer Minister Program
“Since being back on campus this fall, I have noticed that Showing Up has started to serve as a natural unifier. Many of our employees here feel siloed within their departments and divided by whether they are faculty versus staff. Getting a group of both faculty and staff certified as trainers with Showing Up this past summer has encouraged us to cross those borders, to continue doing so, and to model that inclusive behavior to others. This programming has allowed us to meet and collaborate with people from departments that we would have never interacted with otherwise. These relationships I have built have been an absolute blessing in my life and work. I would highly recommend Showing Up to universities or workplaces who would like to strengthen and build connections between members on their teams.”
— Holly Reisman, Certified Organizational Trainer & Professor at Concordia University-Wisconsin
